This test is used to evaluate bleeding tendencies. F10ACT should not be ordered to evaluate anti-coagulant levels. Consider one of the following Anti-Xa tests for this: HEPLMW, HEPASY or RIVA.

Collection ProcedureLiquid blue top tube filled to capacity. Must be performed within 4 hours of specimen collection.
Specimen ProcessingIf time interval between drawing and testing exceeds 4 hours, centrifuge specimen, separate plasma, recentrifuge, separate into 2 clean plastic tubes (2 aliquots), and freeze at -20C or less.
Store and TransportFrozen - Separate samples must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.

Unacceptable ConditionSeverely hemolyzed; clotted samples or inappropriately filled liquid blue top tubes; specimens more than 4 hours old that have not been separated and frozen at -20C or less
